On February 2, the first APEC Business Advisory Council meeting (ABAC) 2018 was convened in Auckland, New Zealand. During the meeting, Mr. Frank Ning, Chairman of Sinochem Group attended the "Belt and Road" thematic breakfast jointly organized by China and New Zealand as a panelist.

During the thematic discussion session, guests including Chairman Frank Ning elaborated on "expanding connectivity and enhancing infrastructure" and contributed their views on the development opportunities brought by the "Belt and Road" Initiative to the Asia-Pacific and the world as a whole. Other guests who shared their views included Stephen Jacobi, CEO of New Zealand China Council; John Samy, Senior Advisor to the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Patrick Brockie, Chairman of the New Zealand Council for Infrastructure Development (NZCID) and Zhang Jianxing, Vice President of DHgate.com.

Chairman Frank Ning noted in his speech that the strategic concept of the "Belt and Road" covers issues of most concern to infrastructure, connectivity, inclusive growth, free trade and growth of low and medium-income people in the Asia Pacific region. The areas involved are broad and specific actions have been pragmatic. After years of development, the “Belt and Road” Initiative has achieved remarkable results in promoting market opening up, infrastructure, financial support and new technologies. This has enabled the Asia Pacific region and the rest of the world to share the dividends of China's growth and is therefore widely appreciated.
